How to Put It On! (APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS)

Surface Preparation

Your pool surface must be structurally sound, solid, and without cement laitance. For applications on old renders, tensile strength should be at least 1,0 N/mm2.

The Substrate must be clean and free of paints, coatings, efflorescence, loose particles, grease, oils, curing agents, form release agents, dust, gypsum plasters, organic growth or any other contaminants that may affect adhesion.

Surface defects:
Voids and static cracks without movement. Open and routed to a minimum depth of 2.0 cm. Repair with MAXREST® to provide a sound and even surface.

Treat Rebars and other metal elements exposed during the substrate preparation with MAXREST® PASSIVE (Technical Bulletin No. 12).  Cut out non-structural and any surface steel/iron elements. Depth to a minimum of at least 2 cm. Cover with MAXREST®.

Applications carried out on Drizoro cement waterproofing coatings (Drizoro Maxseal Flex, Drizoro Maxseal Super, etc), check the curing time specified on each product Technical Bulletin. Once the substrate has been repaired and cleaned. Saturate thoroughly with water before applying CONCRESEAL® POOL, but do not leave free-standing water.
If the surface gets dry, proceed to saturate it with water again.

Mixing 

CONCRESEAL® POOL is a two-component product. Pour the resin, component A, into a clean container and add the powder gradually, component B, while mixing with a low speed mixing drill (400 – 600 rpm) equipped with an inox mixer disc such as MAXMIXER®. Mix for 3-5 minutes. Until a homogeneous colour mortar and free of lumps is achieved. Do not add water and keep the liquid/powder ratio as per the packaging supplied. Depending on the existing temperature, the pot life expected will be between 30 to 40 minutes. Do not mix more product than can be applied within this time.

Application

Trowel application: 

Apply the mortar onto the surface by a metal trowel or plastic float in an even and continuous layer with a recommended thickness from 3.0 to 5.0 mm.
When mortar starts to set. i.e. from 20 to 30 min depending on temperature conditions. Then the surface is finished to achieve the final appearance desired.

Spray application:
Fill and level previously any honeycomb or non-structural void deeper than 3 mm with CONCRESEAL® POOL by trowel.
Then, spray a continuous and homogeneous layer of CONCRESEAL® POOL with 3 to 5 mm thickness and covering areas from 6 to 8 m2, with a suitable spray pump such as DRIZORO® PUMP M1. Finish the surface with a plastic float or metal trowel before the mortar starts to set (about 20 – 30 minutes) depending on temperature conditions.

DRIZORO CONCRESEAL ® POOL Application conditions

In hot or windy conditions. The surface must be wetted thoroughly with plenty of water prior to application.
Prevent a quick drying of CONCRESEAL® POOL and protect from direct sunlight when applying with hot temperatures (above 30°C), working preferably on shadow areas, and planning job early morning or close to sunset.

DO NOT Apply..

• with temperatures above 35ºC.
• if substrate and/or ambient temperature is expected to be below 5°C in 24 hours after application.
• when rain is expected within 24 hours after application…

Curing

Do not apply curing agents or wet surfaces after application.
In case of hot temperatures (above 30 ºC) and/ or windy conditions, protect the application from direct sunlight with wet burlaps or sacks.
Allow CONCRESEAL® POOL to cure for at least 7 days (20°C and 50% R.H.) before water immersion.
Lower temperatures will increase the curing time.

Cleaning

Clean all tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Remove hardened cured product by mechanical means.

CONSUMPTION

The estimated consumption of CONCRESEAL® POOL is 2,0 kg/m2 per mm thickness (or from 6 to 10 kg/m2 for a layer thickness from 3 to 5 mm respectively). These theoretical figures are for guidance only and may vary depending on porosity, texture, substrate conditions and application method. Perform a preliminary test on the site to ascertain the total consumption exactly.

PACKAGING

CONCRESEAL® POOL is supplied in a 30 kg set. Liquid epoxy component “A” in a 5 kg can and powder cement component “B” in a 25 kg sack. It is available in 6 different colours: light grey, dark grey, white, ivory, sand and light blue. Other colours by request.

STORAGE

Twelve months in its unopened and undamaged original packaging. Store in a cool, dry, and covered place, protected from moisture, freezing and direct sunlight, at temperatures above 5°C.

IMPORTANT INDICATIONS DO NOT

• add cement, additives, aggregates, or other compounds.
• use leftovers from previous mixes to mix a new sack.
• Keep constant mixing ratio components A + B and the thickness layer applied, otherwise slight differences in colour intensity may be noticed.
• To restore the workability, remix briefly the mortar again but never add more resin or water.
• Mix and use. Do not mix more material than you can apply in 20-30 minutes.
• exceed the maximum recommended thickness per layer.
• Try to work and cure the fresh mortar under similar exposition conditions. Differences in curing conditions such as shadow areas and direct sunlight areas, may produce differences in the setting time of the fresh mortar and therefore slight differences in colour intensity.
• Allow new concrete and render a curing time of 28 days before application.
• apply on vitrified or enamelled substrates, or with water repellents.
• apply on bituminous materials, wood, or paints.

TECHNICAL DATA

When applying over existing mortars or renders. Check compatibility, strength, and adhesion testing of the substrate to ensure a successful application.

SAFETY AND HEALTH

CONCRESEAL® POOL is not a toxic product but is an abrasive composition. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Use rubber gloves and safety goggles during application. In case of skin contact, wash the affected area with soap and water. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately and thoroughly with clean water but do not rub. If the irritation persists, seek medical assistance.
