Application Directions

SURFACE PREPARATION: For concrete use a wet or dry abrasive for blasting to remove surface defect – some repair of the concrete may be required and patch of joints and cracks with a suitable filling compound. Apply as one coat from the container with brush, roll or airless spray equipment. The SEALTUFF P.U.– Rapid Cure Primer is already very low in viscosity and should not require any further dilution. The level of primer should be even across surface for the optimal adhesion to the substrate and this includes not allowing the primer to pool on application. Coverage rate depends on concrete porosity but typically (for porous concrete) about 4m²/Kg of product

Mixing Instructions
SEALTUFF P.U.– Rapid Cure Primer is supplied in pre-weighted packages. It is essential that all of the solvent disperse prior to application of the membrane system. Gassing out and blisters will occur if the solvent is not fully dispersed prior to the application of the membrane. Rapid Cure Primer should be applied by spray squeegee, roller, or brush, immediately to the prepared substrate. It should then be back rolled with a medium nap roller to fill voids in the substrate. Extremely porous or damp substrates may require a two coat primer application in order to fully seal the surface and this should be determined by site trials. To provide an additional mechanical key, the primer must be fully filled with size 16/30 dry silica sand immediately after application, with the excess aggregate being removed prior to over coating.

If the surface is extremely rough, Rapid Cure Primer should be applied with a nap roller. The consumption will increase and care must be taken to remove “Puddles” of primer before sanding (If required). Extra care must be taken to ensure all substrates are dry. Under no circumstances should applications be carried out in damp weather conditions or if rain is forecast.

Estimating Data: 40 to 90 m2 / 10 kg kit on concrete

Storage: In plastic containers @ 5ºC – 30ºC

Shelf life: for Rapid Cure Primer in its original containers is 12 months. Always store closed containers in cool, ventilated and dry location, away from heat and oxidizing agents. Do not store in direct sunlight or in temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius or above 35 degrees Celsius.

Health & Safety / Handling Precautions
The the product is sensitive to humidity and should at all times be stored in sealed drums and resealed opening. The recommended storage temperatures are 15-25°C and keep away from all sources of heat and ignition sources as the primer is flammable. If the drum is left open to the atmosphere the material may go cloudy, discolour and surface skin – resultant in moisture or contamination.
When opening these drums extreme care must be exercised in releasing the internal pressure.
Before handling these chemicals please consult the Material Safety Data Sheet.
Contact with the skin or eyes must be avoided and avoid breathing in vapour or spray. Adequate ventilation is required (see the MSDS) with approved engineering controls and personal protective equipment.
Safety goggles, protective gloves and approved respirators should be worn whenever handling chemicals.
In case of skin contact, immediately remove excess, wash with soap and water.
For eye contact, immediately flush with water for at least 15 minutes. If nose, throat or lungs become irritated from inhaling vapours, remove exposed person to fresh air.
Call a physician.
Before using the product refer to the Material Safety Data sheets.
