Typical Crack – floor Slab or driveway

Concrete crack repair needs to be suitable for walls, suspended slabs, floors masonry. Unsightly cracks not only detract from the look of your building, garage or patio. The cracks, if not repaired, will cause further degradation as moisture seeps into the concrete.

Concrete Crack Repair;- expansion joints or cracks flexing in concrete. Repairs to moving joints and cracks requires the repair material to be flexible.  Products such as Drizoro Maxseal FlexDrizoro Maxmesh, or Drizoro Maxjoint Elastic are best suited.
When the cracks in the concrete are not moving other more economical solutions use of  Drizoro MaxrestDrizoro Maxgrip, or Drizoro Watmat could prove to be a more suitable cost-effective solution.

Major Competitive Advantages of Drizoro MaxJoint Elastic with Moving Joints

  1. Damp surface required.
  2. withstands hydrostatic pressure, therefore, it can be applied on either side
  3. stable to UV

PreparationDrizoro concrete crack repair, expansion joints

  1. If the area for crack repair has been painted, old paint will need to be removed, concrete soiled by oil or other contaminants will require pressure washing
  2. Prepare the cracks to be repaired. Use a cold chisel and a hammer, longer cracks you may need to use kango hammer or grinding wheel (use correct protective gear) to remove any loose pieces in the crack. It is recommended that the fracture/crack be opened to a width of 10mm and a depth of 20mm. Where possible make the base or inside of the crack wider than it is at the surface. This helps the performance of Drizoro patching repair material to bond in the crack.
  3. Remove wash any debris from the newly opened crack and you are now ready for your Concrete Crack Repair.

Application Method – where movement is apparent.

  • If the crack is caused continuing flexing movement in the concrete then best repair material is  Drizoro MAXJOINT ELASTIC.
  • Place polyethylene foam joint backing rod or similar with a diameter 25% greater than the joint width, as bond breaker
  • MAXJOINT ELASTIC is two pre-weighed components. Pour the resin, component A, into a clean container. Add the powder gradually, Component B, while mixing with a low speed mixing drill (400 – 600 rpm). Continue mixing until a homogeneous mixture free of lumps is achieved.
Avoid excessive mixing time and do not modify the proportions supplied between both components. Leave the mix to rest 2 minutes. Depending on relative humidity and temperature, pot life can vary between 30 – 60 minutes approximately
After this time, re- mix to keep its workability but do not add water.
  • Dampen surface, Apply a primer coat of Component A with a brush to the joint and whilst primer coat is still wet to touch place the MAXJOINT ELASTIC into the crack or joint by trowel, caulking gun or putty knife. Push into the bottom edge of the joint in order to squeeze out any air bubbles.
  • For general waterproofing of slabs with vehicular traffic, it is recommended that the entire slab be coated with MAXSEAL FLEX and covered with an abrasion-resistant coating such as concrete or asphaltic topping after 7 days.
  • This process may be used in a negative or hydrostatic water pressure exists please contact our team for more information.

Application Method – where NO movement is apparent

Where there is NO movement open the crack as above and follow the instructions to use Drizoro Maxrest | Drizoro Maxgrip | Drizoro Maxplug | Drizoro Watmat | Drizoro Maxseal Flex

In conclusion; the damage caused by not completing the repairs to cracked concrete is, in the long run, much more expensive. The major competitive advantage over many other joint sealants is that Maxjoint Elastic is that is UV Stable.

Sealing Below the Suspended Slab Moving or Static

Sometimes when the slab cracks water penetrates into the area below. Infrastructure installed on the slabs such as gardens, planter boxes, ponds pools etc. means that chances of completing a repair from the waterside (top) is almost impossible. The cost of repairs is often prohibitively exorbitant. Urgent repairs to stop the leak/s are often delayed or avoided completely due to budget constraints.
Delaying the repairs only means the final cost will be greater due to further damage caused by water penetration. The only option, a more cost-effective or cheaper alternative, at that is to seal your leaking slab from underneath.
